Twelve Weeks.

I'm going to buy something special for Baby Boy whenever he reaches another four week milestone. I suppose it's my way of celebrating him and connecting to him even when I'm not physically able to be with him.Today I bought him this little t-shirt from another adoptive mom on Etsy. Happy 12 weeks, Baby Boy. … [Read more...]

A Little Brother.

Many people have asked how E reacted to the news of Baby Boy... I must admit that when we received our referral, she did not have the sweet, endearing reaction I had imagined for the big sister who has long been begging for a sibling.  I think this may have had something to do with the fact that when we learned the news, Joel and I were openly weeping--which was probably quite confusing to her--and continued to be very weepy and emotional for the rest of the day.  I think it was probably also … [Read more...]

A Grant!

We have some very exciting news to share!  We received an e-mail to day from HandinHand, and they will match up to $4,000 of donations to help us bring home Baby Boy!  This means we could potentially earn $8,000 towards our adoption expenses just in time to pay the remainder of our country fee.  Praise the Lord for his good and gracious timing! They have given us a sample fundraising letter to send out, and we'll also be using this opportunity to match donations received for our piano recital … [Read more...]

Progress.

These last couple days, we have made lots of progress in getting Baby Boy home, and in also ensuring his good care at the orphanage! Yesterday we went to Helena and had our biometrics done.  We expect about a 4-6 week wait from here for our i600a to be complete. When we arrived home from Helena, we had received a HUGE stack of contracts and our official referral for Baby Boy that we stayed up late reading. Our agency sent out an emergency e-mail plea for formula at the orphanage, since … [Read more...]

What a Weekend!

This weekend has been one of the most special, happiest, anxiety-ridden, worrisome, joyful, emotional weekends ever. Our first piece of news is that Baby Boy has a name!  It was a name that wasn't even on our radar when we tossed around boy names, but once we heard his birth story, it was a name that fit him perfectly and honors his mom.  His middle name is his birth name and the same name as his birth mother's, and we are keeping the French pronunciation so that it can remain part of his … [Read more...]

Waiting.

Waiting is so hard.  And we've only been on the wait list a week.  I honestly don't know how families survive this for years. … [Read more...]

Asking for Help.

I hate asking for help, and I'm even uncomfortable accepting it when people offer it.  I would much rather be the person bringing people meals after they have a new baby, being the listening ear when a friend is struggling, or helping with childcare when a friend is sick. When I was pregnant with my 3.5 year old, I was sick the entire nine months.  The kind of sick where I couldn't be near the vicinity of the kitchen (much less the grocery store), watch TV (the movement nauseated me) or be on … [Read more...]
