Blog Feature and a Year in Review.

I’m honored to tell you that my post about musical activities inspired by the Nutcracker was featured on Family Fun Friday — chosen from over 200 links shared! Be sure to check out their weekly linkup, filled with fantastic posts from so a great variety of bloggers!

I see these on blogs now and then at the end of the year — and thought it would be fun to do one here — especially since 2013 has been a BIG year for our family!

I packed Joel’s bags for Congo, and got really sick of waiting. In an effort to distract myself from the adoption wait, I participated in a Nordic 5K. Something which I will NEVER DO AGAIN.

Baby Boy’s visa was issued and Joel left for DRC to pick up our son!

Baby Boy arrived home and we shared some of our favorite family photos from that memorable night.

I put together a homecoming video for Baby Boy and marveled over the instant sibling connection between Yaya and Baby Boy.

I celebrated my first Mother’s Day as an adoptive mom and worked hard to simplify our lives.

We celebrated Baby Boy’s first birthday and I shared some tips on applying for adoption grants.

I talked about Post Adoption Depression  and began our Train Up A Child Challenge, where my children and I participate in service projects.

We ran a race for clean water and learned more information about Baby Boy’s name.

I shared my thankfulness for the girlfriends in my life and what I’ve learned about adoption six months after the airport.

I reminded readers about the importance of respecting countries’ adoption laws and attended a really cool church service in downtown Los Angeles.

I held a piano recital to raise money for a local charity and shared a list of some of our favorite chapter books.

Yaya bought a guinea pig, Baby Boy graduated physical therapy and I participated in a Blog Hop with family activities for spreading joy during the month of December.
